Oct 3rd                           Receive the Holy Spirit;  #3 in the Trinity #1 in our hearts.    Dcn Joe Knapp

The Acts of the Apostles shows how the Holy Spirit transformed the Apostles from being fearful disciples, huddling behind closed doors, into courageous witness for Christ. The Spirit is understood to be the source of inspiration, life, and movement within God’s people. Just before Jesus’ Ascension, He said to the Apostles; “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” With the gift of the Spirit at Pentecost, the disciples became dynamic missionaries filled with courage that nothing stopped them from proclaiming  the love of Christ for all people. Could you see yourself as an apostle ?

Oct 10th               The Church: Reflecting the Light of Christ;    Shelly

Finding Hope in the Darkness

The Holy Spirit revealed the Church at Pentecost, coming upon the Apostles and the disciples with a transforming fire, forming them into a visible community, and empowering them to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All of the baptized share in Christ’s priesthood. This participation is called the “common priesthood of all the faithful.” Their works, prayers activities of the family and married life, apostolic endeavors, relaxation, and even sufferings and setbacks of life can become spiritual offerings pleasing to God when united to the sacrifice of Christ.    How do you participate in the prophetic office ? Actions speak louder than words.  Do yours?

Oct 17th               The Four Markers of the Church;                         Carl Wenning

One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church? .  .  .  .  Why ?

God first called the Israelites to holiness: “You shall be holy because I am holy” St. Peter repeated this command of the Lord for the Christian people. “As he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves as every aspect of your conduct, for it is written, “Be holy because I am holy” God addresses this call to every member of the Church. Catholics today are encouraged to share this life of the Apostolic Church with others, enabling them to know Christ. Our role as Laity in the Church has evolved to a point where “we”, each of us, are the faces others see of our parish.  We are responsible for our own identity as Catholics.  How do the Church’s four marks strengthen your Catholic identity? Come find out.

Oct 24: Mary: The Church’s First and Most Perfect Member; Mary, Mother of God Presented by Dcn Al Lundy

The mother of the Son of God occupies a special and unique place in God’s plan of salvation. From ancient times to present day, Catholics honor the distinctive role of Mary, the woman chosen to be the Mother of our Redeemer, with a special reverence and devotion. Not by adoration or worship, we venerate her singular example and prayerfully request her intercession for us. Throughout history, there have been more than 2500 claimed Marian Apparitions, 500 of those coming in the 20th century, 51 since 2000. Like a doting mother who only wants the best for her children, all she wants is prayer, repentance, and to bring all to her Son. How do you seek Mary’s intercession for yourself, your family or for whom you care about? Who are you bringing to Her Son?
